The TapSOS app and website (together, TapSOS) are run and managed by TapSOS Limited, 2 Woodstock Link, Belfast, Northern Ireland BT6 8DD (we, us, our). We use cookies to collect information about the use of TapSOS.  

A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that is downloaded onto your computer or mobile device when you use a website or application. Your web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox) sends the cookies back to the website or application on each subsequent visit so that the website or application can recognise you and remember personalised details or user preferences.

Cookies are very useful and help us to provide you with a good experience when you use TapSOS. They can also tell us how TapSOS is currently being used which allows us to continuously improve TapSOS.

The cookies that we use

We may use the following types of cookies:

• Strictly necessary cookies. These are cookies that are essential for the operation of TapSOS. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to move around TapSOS and log into secure areas. Without these cookies, we would not be able to provide core functions of TapSOS.
• Analytical/performance cookies. These allow us to recognise and count the number of users and to see how users move around TapSOS when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way TapSOS works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily.
• Functionality cookies. These are used to recognise you when you return to TapSOS. This enables us to personalise our content for you, greet you by name and remember any preferences.

Third party cookies

Where we set our own cookies, these are called “first party” cookies and we set them and control them. We sometimes use “third party” cookies that are set and controlled by third parties. This includes Google Analytics (which allows us to measure user traffic to analyse and improve TapSOS) and YouTube cookies to enable us to embed videos.

Duration of cookies

All the cookies that we use are “session cookies”. This means that they only last for the length of your browser session and they disappear from your computer or device when you close your session. Some cookies are “persistent cookies”, which stay on your computer or device after the browser has been closed and last for a specified period of time. We do not currently use any persistent cookies.
